Miss Virginia G. Rogers, 93 of Medford died Tuesday in the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford. Miss Rogers was born and educated in Somerville, daughter of the late Manuel and Virginia (Medeiros) Rogers. She began a career in banking as a bookkeeper with the Somerville National Bank which later became the Shawmut Bank retiring in 1981. She has been a Medford Resident since 1953. Miss Rogers enjoyed watching game shows, playing the lottery, shopping, traveling and playing Bingo at St. Joseph Church Hall. In the “old days” she was part of the old porch crowd, a time when the neighbors would walk to each other’s home to swap newspapers.
She is survived by a sister Theresa Mello and her husband Gilbert of Arlington and a dear friend Loretta Francescon of Woburn. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Sister of the late Madeline McEachern, John & Mary Rogers and Gertrude Wininger.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main Street MEDFORD on Saturday Jan. 23 at 9:00 AM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 4:30-7:30pm.
