Dorothy Tripp “Lucy” Davis, 78, of the Spring Hill Community in Irwin County died Monday, May 18, 2009 at the Irwin County Hospital.
Memorial services will be held 5 P.M. Wednesday, May 20 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla with Rev. Rex Johnson officiating.
Mrs. Davis was born September 25, 1930 in Nashville, Georgia to the late Joe Brown and Louise Murray Tripp. She lived in the Spring Hill community in Irwin County most of her life. She graduated from Berrien County High School in 1948 and from Jones Business College, Jacksonville, FL in 1950. Mrs. Davis was a former employee of Davis’s Department Store, Hybernia’s, B.C. Moore’s Department Store and worked for seventeen years for Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald and Ocilla. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Irwin County and was an avid golfer.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Cathy & Earl Stone of Willacoochee and Caron Wynn of the Spring Hill community in Irwin County; grandchildren, Clint Stone of Willacoochee, Jason Phillips of Hosford, FL, Melissa Murray of Warner Robins, Taylor Wynn and John A. Wynn both of Irwin County; 4 great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris & Marion Neal of Charleston, SC and Mary Jo & Billy Levins of Woodville, FL; brother & sister-in-law, Joe & Clara Tripp of Bethesda, MD as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Bruce “Jim” Davis, daughter, Connie Phillips and two grandsons, Clay Stone and Jessie Phillips.
