Ronald J. Kersey

The Villages, Florida-Ronald James Kersey, 73, formerly of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2008 after suffering a sudden and severe stroke.

Ron was born on April 11, 1935, in Presque Isle, Maine to Thomas and Artheline Cyr Kersey. He was a devoted husband and father, and a man of great faith, humility and integrity.

Ron was a 1958 graduate of St. Anselm’s College and earned a Masters Degree from the College of the Holy Cross in 1959. He was employed by Fairchild Semiconductor and Sprague Electric.

Ron was an active member of his parishes of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Cape Elizabeth and St. Mark’s in The Villages. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, and was president of the Maine-Vermont Club in The Villages.

Besides his parents, Ron is predeceased by a brother Paul Belanger.

Ron is survived by Elaine (Morin) Kersey, his loving wife of 48 years, and his children Matthew Kersey and his wife Marianne of Raleigh, NC; Gregory Kersey and his wife Filomena of Hartford, VT; Alyssa Richardson and her husband George of South Portland, ME; and Audrey Cherry and her husband Mike of Penns Creek, PA. He was a loving Grampy to Sarah and Elise; David and Gina; Kyle, Tim and Abby; and Stephen and Hannah. He is also survived by his stepfather Leonard Belanger and his wife Barbara of Augusta, ME, and siblings Jack Kersey of Augusta, ME and Vivian Belanger and her husband Cliff Goodall of Freeport, ME. Ron is fondly remembered by brothers and sisters-in-law Diane and Ray, Marguerite and Skip, Jeanne and Chuck, and Paul and Pat, as well as a large extended family.

To celebrate his life a visiting hour was held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia from 10:00-11:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Adrien R. Longchamps officiating. Burial followed in the family lot at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia.
