Robert H. “Bob” Cowen, 61, of Derry, NH, formerly of the metro-west area of MA and Livermore Falls, ME died Saturday, January 26, 2008 in the Lahey Clinic, Burlington, MA. He was born April 1, 1946 in Marlboro, MA, a son of the late Russell and Marie (Welch) Cowen. He worked as a manager for Host Marriott Services and Wendy’s in MA. His happiest times were traveling with his wife, Celeste, and family over the years to California, Nevada, Florida and throughout New Hampshire. He enjoyed bowling in a league in Marlboro for many years, playing golf and watching sports. His latest venture was doing puzzles and framing them, and just being with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Celeste (Foster) Lafreniere-Cowen of Derry, two sisters, Frances Chicoine and her husband Clarence of Jay, ME, Patricia Burgess and her husband Webb of Northboro, MA, two brothers, Raymond Slater and his wife Wanda of Atascadero, CA and Paul Cowen, two nieces Debbie Baxter of Jay, ME and Julie Labonte of Ringe, NH, a special aunt, Jane Woods of Monroe, NY and her family. He is also survived by his extended family, Paula and Kenneth Pastore of Londonderry, NH, Ann Marie Hickey and Vincent Torraco of Athol, MA and Michelle Lafreniere of Shrewsbury, MA, as well as his five grandchildren, Kenneth and David Pastore, Laura, Vincent and Celeste Torraco.
A celebration of his life was held Wednesday, January 30, 2008 from 6-8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, with cremation following. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to your local Food Bank in Robert’s memory.
