In Bedford, MA of Taunton July 6, 2016 William C. Emsley loving husband of Jean C. (Bergfors) Emsley for over fifty nine years died at Edith N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital at the age of 84. Born in Taunton, William was the son of the late Albert and Mary (Murphy) Emsley. He was a graduate of Taunton High School class of 1951, and he received his bachelors degree at UMass Amherst and his masters degree at Boston College. William joined the US Army from 1952-1954 serving in the Korean War. William was a retired Social Worker at St Vincent’s Home and the Taunton School Department. He was the former Director of Head Start and the Taunton Boys & Girls Club in Taunton. Bill was a compassionate person who touched the lives of many. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. He was the father of Dennis Emsley and his wife Tara of Providence, RI, Christine Jackson and her husband Joseph of Dighton, Jane Goodman and her husband William of NH, Nancy Michaud and her husband David of Billerica and Kathryn Smith and her husband Cris of NH. Grandfather of Zachary Goodman and his fiancé Kayla, Alex Goodman, Kyle and Haley Jackson, Story and Eli Michaud and Nathan Smith. Brother of Rita Sousa of Taunton, Barbara Pirozzi of Mashpee and the late Robert, Albert “Buzz”, Francis Emsley, Mary Katherine Gray, Eleanor Emsley and Edward Emsley. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home 70 Washington Street in Taunton Wednesday, July 13th at 8:45 AM. A Mass of Christen burial will be held at Holy Family Church in East Taunton at 10 AM. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 PM. Interment St Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
