Obituary

In Berkley, July 3, 2016 Richard P. Gracia husband of Doris (Mello) Gracia of fifty nine years died peacefully at his home with his family by his side at the age of 85. Born in Dighton, Richard was the son of the late Anthony S. Gracia and Ida K. (Souza) Gracia. Richard moved to Berkley when he was six years old, He attended Berkley schools and was a Graduate from Monsignor Coyle class of 1949 then attended New Bedford Voc. And Wentworth College for Mechanical Drafting. Richard was a retired Farmer, Union Carpenter and substitute US Postal Carrier. He served in the US Air Force as a Staff Sergeant and was a tail gunner in the Korean War. He was a Commander of the VFW in Dighton, a member of the Dighton Grange and a member of the Lions Club in Berkley. He received the Melvin Jones Award from the Lions Club International. Richard was a parishioner of St Bernard’s Church in Assonet. He was the father of Anthony R. Gracia (MaryKarla) of Brookfield, CT, Paul Gracia (Kelley) of Berkley, Louis Gracia (Dawn) of Cape May, NJ, Eileen Keich (Albert) of Berkley, Pauline Johnson (Brian) of East Freetown and Ida Gracia of Berkley. Grandfather of Jason Gracia and fiancé Alyssa Carter, Erin Gracia, Louis Gracia (Ashley), Paul Gracia Jr., Tina Gracia, Zachary Gracia, Nathaniel Keich, Ian and Gabriella Gracia, Emily Gracia and Connor Johnson. Great Grandfather of Tanner, Louis III, Logan, Landon, Alianna, Madeline, Kai Gracia, Kennedy and Riley Carter. Uncle of several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held at St Bernard’s Church, 30 Main St, Assonet from on Saturday, July 9th from 9-11 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Interment Fox Cemetery in Berkley.
