James Russell “Woody” Walton, age 61, died May 31, 2016 at his home in Water Valley. He was born June 20, 1954 to Jack Walton and Cordia Mae Mix Walton, and after he finished high school, he moved to Chicago for 30 years, where he became a self-employed auto mechanic. He moved back to Water Valley in 2010. Woody was a member of Chapel Hill M B Church of Water Valley, MS. He enjoyed working in his yard and tinkering on cars as a hobby.
Services are planned for Monday, June 6, 2016 at 11 am in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Reverend C. Jerome Battles officiating. Viewing will be from 10 am until service time. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Yalobusha County. Woody is survived by his mother, Cordia Walton of Water Valley, MS; two sisters, Martha Walton, and Dorothy (Henry) Jenkins, both of Water Valley, MS; a special friend, Patricia Pritchard of Water Valley, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Walton, and a sister, Ruby Walton. | ||||
