James Kenneth McFarland, 75, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Thursday, August 27, 2015, at his residence.
Funeral service will be held 4 PM, Monday, August 31, 2015, at, Midway Church of God in Irwin County, with the Rev. Chris Adcock and the Rev. Marshall Adcock officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinetta Cemetery, in the Pinetta Community of Irwin County. The family will receive friends Monday, August 31, 2015, from 2:30 PM until 4:00 PM, at the church.
Mr. McFarland was born February 17, 1940, in Ocilla, Georgia, to the late James Archibald and Nannie Sandiford McFarland. He lived in the community all of his life and graduated from Irwin County High School in 1958. Mr. McFarland was owner and operator of McFarland Trucking. He enjoyed reading, farming, gardening, canning and preserving. Mr. McFarland was a member of Midway Church of God.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years: Faye T. McFarland of Ocilla; children: Dana M. McGill & Sam of Aiken, South Carolina, Wendy McFarland of Ocilla, Steven McFarland of Tifton, Stephanie M. Everett & Ronald of Stone Mountain and Paige R. Adcock and Rev. Marshall of Douglas; daughter-in-law: Mary Ann Richardson of Mobile, Alabama; grandchildren: Chris Adcock, Brooks Adcock, Samuel McGill, MaryFrances McGill, Linda Grace Everett, Joseph Everett and Micah Everett; great-grandchildren: Anthony Adcock and Asher Adcock; and a sister: Gwenette M. Lassiter & James of Gordon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Anthony Richardson and a sister: Lillie Murl Smith.
