Bernice Sandidge Holder Obituary - Water Valley MS

Bernice Sandidge Holder, age 93, died Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at her home in Water Valley, MS. She was born May 18, 1921 in Jackson, MS to the late Johnnie William and Velma Pearl Allen Sandidge. Bernice was of Baptist faith and enjoyed crocheting, camping, traveling and reading. She loved writing poetry and had self-published two books of her writings. Bernice was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed caring for, and spending time with her family.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will begin immediately following the visitation, at 2:00 pm in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Rev. Brad Burnett and Rev. David Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS with David Stevens, Al Stevens, Lee Hutcherson, Roy Bennett Stevens, Andrew Holder, and Chris Scruggs serving as pallbearers. Ray Dill and Sam Westcot will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Bernice is survived by her husband, Willis Aaron Holder of Water Valley, MS; her daughter, Joy Scott of Southaven, MS; her son, Allen Holder of Olive Branch, MS; five grandchildren, Candice (Sam) Westcot of Southaven, MS, Andrew Caleb Holder of Oxford, MS, Fauna (Richard) Gueterrez and Donald Wayne Holder, Jr. all of Yacoma, WA, and Lee Allen (Stephanie) Hutcherson of Olive Branch, MS; seven great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her step-sons, Donald Wayne Holder, Sr. and William Holder; and her brother, Charlie Sandidge.
