Obituary

WORCESTER-Angele (Assadourian) Chakarian, 84, passed away Friday, December 12th at home peacefully with her daughter by her side. Angele’s husband, Edward Chakarian passed away in 2003. She leaves behind her daughter, Carol Halfmann and her husband Paul; her grandchildren, Richard Halfmann and his wife Lauren and William Halfmann and his wife Alexis; three great grandchildren, Madeline, Henry and Charlie; her brother, Albert Assadourian and his wife Jacqueline of Henderson, NV; two sisters, Rose Garabedian of Biver, France and Louise Krikorian and her husband Jean of Libertyville, IL and many nieces and nephews. Angele was predeceased by her brother, Ralph Assadourian and his wife Angele and her brother-in-law, Roupen Garabedian.

Angele was born in Marseilles, France the daughter of Armenian Genocide survivors, Melkon and Mariam (Yeryerian) Assadourian. Angele was a seamstress at the former Charles Kay Dress Shop in Worcester, sewing teacher at David Hale Fanning Trade School, cashier at Big D Wonder Market for many years, and a baker at Worcester State University before retiring. She enjoyed dancing, gardening and spending time with her family.

Angele’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 16th at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, 635 Grove St. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, 635 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.
