Obituary

WORCESTER-Francis D. Reidy, 82, of Worcester passed away peacefully at home, after a long battle with cancer on Thursday, November 18 at home.

He leaves his wife of 58 years, Janet M. Reidy; three sons, Sean M. Reidy and his wife, Michelle of Auburn, Dennis F. Reidy and his wife, Linda of Spencer and Stephen D. Reidy and his wife, Barbara of Worcester; nine grandchildren, Briana, Meghan, Dennis Jr., Sarah, Katherine, Colleen, Stephen Jr., Timothy Jr., and Taryn; two great-grandchildren, Liahm and Paige; two sisters, Mary Demaio of Worcester and Theresa Reidy of Summerfield, FL and many nieces and nephews. Two sons, Timothy and Paul Reidy and a brother, James Reidy predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Dennis F. and Agnes M. (Trudel) Reidy and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School, Massachusetts Barber School and Ollis Academy of Hairdressing. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War.

Francis was the owner and operator for over 50 years of Reidy’s Barber Shop in Auburn. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus-St. Catherine’s Church, the Worcester County Model A Club, Chester P. Tuttle Post #279, Knights of Columbus John Cardinal Wright 4th Degree Assembly #1924 and a founding member of the Worcester Bass Masters Club.

The family would like extend a special thank you to the Jewish Healthcare Center-Hospice in particular, Renee Hebert, RN and staff and to the Cancer and Wellness Center, Dr. David Shepro, Michelle Proos, NP and the entire staff for their wonderful care and support.

There are no visiting hours. The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, November 21, at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus-Saint Catherine Church, 600 Cambridge Street. Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contribution to Sacred Heart of Jesus-St. Catherine Church, 600 Cambridge St., Worcester, 01610.
