Obituary

WORCESTER-Stanley J. Ostaszewski, 90, died Friday, November 7, 2014 at home, surrounded by two angels, Pauline Dumont and Tracy Gibbs, and his loving family. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Jeanne L. (Provencher) Ostaszewski in 2006.

Stanley leaves his son Stanley J. Ostaszewski; and two daughters, Paula Marengo and Lynn Ann Ostaszewski, both of Boylston; four grandchildren, Jimmy and Michele Marengo and Tiffany and Kiel Ostaszewski; a sister Irene Kowaleski of Worcester; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers, John and Smitty, and four sisters, Victoria, Alfreda, Alice and Sophie.

He was born in Worcester, son of Ignac J. and Blanche M. (Dyjak) Ostaszewski, and grew up on the island within the Black Stone area. Stan was a Navy Veteran of World War II. Serving proudly aboard the (DE) USS Baron in the South Pacific Theater as a 1st class Gunners.


Stan was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working with his hands. He was known to be a metal worker by trade and a woodworker by hobby. He could fix anything. In later years, Stanley began a new interest in painting, which he shared with his son Stan.

He worked at Allied Tool and Die Company for many years retiring in 1986, but continued to work there after retirement on a part time basis. He was a longtime member of St. Christopher’s Church.


The funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 11 from FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston with a Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Christopher’s Church, 950 West Boylston St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A visiting hour will also be held on Tuesday from 8:30-9:30 am at the funeral home.
