Ila Jewel Johnson of Water Valley, MS died October 23, 2014 at the Yalobusha Nursing Home. Born December 1, 1914 in Lafayette County, she was the daughter of Elton Lee and Janie Thweatt Hartsfield. She attended Nursing School after high school, but spent most of her life as a homemaker for her family. A great number of her grandchildren's friends called her "Mamaw". She was happy, funny, and greatly loved. Mrs. Johnson was a longtime member of North Main Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 1 until 3 Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Seven Oaks Funeral Home with services immediately following at 3 pm in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks. Bro. Doug Pepper will be officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with Chuck Livingston, Randall Lloyd, Jerry Johnson, Greg Penion, Robert Welch, and Walt Thompson serving as pall bearers. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughter, Shelby (Hilman) Furr of Water Valley, MS; two grandchildren, Perry (Corliss) Furr and Terry (Clyde) Creel; five great grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. | ||||
