Obituary

WORCESTER-Winifred A. (Lucey) Coleman, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10 2014 at Notre Dame Long Term Care, surrounded by her loving family.

Her husband of 62 years, John E. Coleman, Jr. predeceased her in 2008. She leaves four sons, John E. Coleman, III and his wife Ruth of Leicester, Dennis M. Coleman and his wife Virginia of Spencer, Gary T. Coleman and his wife Lisa of Hubbardston, and Neil A. Coleman and his wife Ann Marie of Worcester; two daughters, Carol A. Fleming and her husband Edward of Holden and Donna M. Wolf and her husband James of Holden; 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, all of whom she adored. She also leaves a brother Cornelius Lucey and his wife Eileen of Dennis; two sisters, Bernie Souza of Marston Mills and Carol Walsh and her husband William of Millbury; and many nephews and nieces.


Winifred was born in Worcester, daughter of Cornelius L. and Eva (Hurtubise) Lucey and graduated from South High School. She was a manager at the former Consumers Savings Bank prior to retirement. After retirement Winifred moved to South Dennis and had several part time jobs while there. Her favorite place to work was Macy’s. She was a former member of St. George’s Church in Worcester and most recently Holy Trinity Church in Harwich.

Winifred loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially when they could all be together at family gatherings. She liked to keep busy, and volunteered at Cape Cod Hospital, sang with the Cape Cod Chordaires and enjoyed bowling.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, October 16 from CALLAHAN~FAY & CASWELL FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester with a Mass at 11:00 AM at St. George’s Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. A private burial in the National Cemetery in Bourne will be held at a later date. Visiting hours are Wednesday, October 15 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Winifred’s memory to Notre Dame Long Term Care, 555 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
