Obituary

WORCESTER/APPLE VALLEY,CA-Thomas A. "Al" Carey, 89,of Apple Valley, CA formerly of Worcester died Sunday, September 14.

Thomas A. Carey was born on November 20, 1924 in Worcester. At the age of seventeen, he enlisted in the Army Air Force and served his country proudly stationed in Italy as an APL armorer gunner.

In 1956, he married Marie Eileen Carey, also from Worcester, MA. They enjoyed fifty six years together until Marie's passing in August of 2012.

Thomas, or Al as he was known for many years, was a talented writer and an avid golfer. He also enjoyed travelling, good food, watching sports (especially his beloved Red Sox and Celtics) and spending time with his family, including his two grandsons. He was a resident of Apple Valley, CA for the past twenty eight years.

Thomas is survived by his daughters, Patti Watkins of Apple Valley, CA and Joan Carey of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, as well as his grandsons, Carey and Collin Watkins of Apple Valley, CA, son-in-law Jerry Watkins of Apple Valley, CA, sister-in-law Ann Faron and brother-in-law Larry Faron of North Grafton.

A Visiting Hour will be from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m., Monday, September 22th at Callahan~Fay and Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester followed by a Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 17 Waterville Street, North Grafton. Burial will be in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester. Memorial donations may be made to, the American Heart Assoc., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
