Obituary

AUBURN-John Stavros, 86, passed away Saturday, September 20th at home surrounded by his family.

John leaves his wife of 35 years, Wanda A. (Snavely) Stavros; two sons, Richard Stavros of Medford and David Stavros of Worcester; two daughters, Tina Freeman of Worcester and Elizabeth Lynch of Auburn; four stepchildren, Thomas and Robert Lamarche of Worcester, Richard Lamarche of Holden and Dianne Lorion of Charlton; 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his first wife, Genevieve (Cosenza) Stavros in 1978, his son, John “Jack” Stavros, Jr. in 2007, his daughter, Mary Ann Lanning in 2007 and his stepson, Gary Lamarche in 1974.

John was born in Fall River the son of William and Zaharoula (Georgiou) Stavros. He graduated from Commerce High School. John joined the U.S. Marine Corp. and was a veteran of WW II. John owned and operated the White House Restaurant for 42 years retiring in 1989. He was a former member of the Webster Square Business Association, 100 Club and the National Restaurant Association.

A visiting period for John will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 am Wednesday, September 24th at CALLAHAN, FAY & CASWELL FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 am at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VNA Care & Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
