Obituary

Ronald V. Pimental, 75, of Acushnet passed away on Sunday July 27, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Janice E. (Nerbonne) Pimental; they had been married for 55 years.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Manuel V. and Mary (Barboza) Pimental, he lived in Acushnet for most of his life.

He was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church, where he was a member of the St. Vincent dePaul Society.

Mr. Pimental was formerly employed as a boilermaker/welder for Local 29, International Brotherhood of Boilermakers.

He served in the Army National Guard and was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis.

He loved playing golf, watching the Boston Red Sox, and playing cards with his friends. He had been a volunteer for Damien's Pantry.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Janice; his sister, Vivian Bird of New Bedford; and several nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Thursday at 8:45 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church, Acushnet at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Acushnet Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Francis Xavier Parish, 125 Main St., Acushnet, MA 02743.
