Obituary

Taunton – Pauline U. Lewis, 88, of Taunton, died Monday morning July 7, 2014 at Morton Hospital after a short illness. Born January 25, 1926 in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Katherine Petecki. Pauline was a life long resident of this city and was educated in the Taunton Public Schools. She was a graduate of the Brockton Academy of Beauty Culture and the Clairol Institute of Haircoloring. For many years she was employed as a beautician in area salons. Pauline was also employed by the Metals and Controls Corporation in Attleboro, Robertson Curtain Company, the Taunton Inn, Roseland Ballroom and Reed and Barton all of Taunton. While employed at Reed and Barton during World War Two, Pauline was awarded the Army-Navy “E” Production Award for excellence in War Production. Having a flair for the arts, Pauline was an avid painter and also enjoyed crochet, needlepoint and knitting. She consistently won numerous First and Second place awards at the Brockton and Rehoboth Fairs for her original paintings, needlework, afghans and handmade articles of clothing. She was a member of the Polish National Alliance Lodge 1054 and a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church Taunton. Besides her parents, Pauline was predeceased by her husband Edward C. Lewis in 1979 and her sister Florence Johnson in 2012. She is survived by her brother Ted Petecki, nephews Brett Johnson, Drew Johnson and niece Joni Kolakowski. Calling hours will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street in Taunton Friday, July 11th from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. A Mass will be held at St Mary’s Church in Taunton at 11 AM. Interment St Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
