Robert James Reid, age 87, formerly of New Orleans, LA, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. He was born November 4, 1926 in Harmontown (Lafayette County), MS to the late Julius Linson and Lucy Cook Reid. Robert was a graduate of Mississippi State University and served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a retired Labor Market Analyst for the state of Louisiana. Robert was a Methodist and attended First United Methodist Church of Water Valley, MS and was a member of the Water Valley Ambassadors. He enjoyed gardening, music, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will begin immediately following the visitation at 11:00 am in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Rev. Allen McGraw officiating. Burial will be in the Harmontown Cemetery in Lafayette County, MS. Robert is survived by two nieces, Becky Reid Jones (Andy) of Water Valley, MS and Jackie Reid Hawkins of Calhoun City, MS; one nephew, Mike Reid (Cindy) of West Point, MS; a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. | ||||
