HERN, David A., 90, Of West Roxbury, January 23, 2014, after a brief illness. Beloved husband of Clare (Dunn) Hern, with whom he shared sixty-two years of marriage. Devoted father of David and his wife Janet of Norwood, Stephen and his wife Jeanne of Walpole, Joseph and his wife Deborah of Quincy, Mary of West Roxbury, Christopher and his wife Kathleen of West Roxbury, Andrew and his wife Margaret of West Hartford, CT, and Daniel and his wife Kristen of Milton. Grandfather of sixteen and great-grandfather of six. Son of the late Joseph L. and Anne (Donahoe) Hern. Brother of the late Paul, J. Louis, Kevin, Gerald, Laurence, John, Mary, Marguerite, and Madeleine Hern. Mr. Hern was a long-time political reporter and columnist for the Boston Traveler, the Boston Herald, the Associated Press, and other Massachusetts newspapers, covering state and national politics, and also served as a director and president of The Commonwealth Co-operative Bank. Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home 2055 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY, Monday, January 27th at 10:30 am. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Theresa Church at 11:30 am. Visiting hours Sunday 2-7 pm. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Holyhood Cemetery.
