WALTER S. POHL a Hingham resident for over 60 years, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 14th, 2013 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth at the age of 86. He was born in Dorchester and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. For many years he worked in maintenance at the New England Book Component and enjoyed car mechanics, woodworking and especially spending time with his family.
He was the husband of the late Barbara (Last) Pohl and father of Steven W. Pohl of Hingham, Mary Ricketts and her husband Paul of Braintree, Alice Richards and her husband William of Plymouth and Carol Marr and her husband Earl of Kingston. Brother of Patricia Bartuschat of Hingham. Grandfather of Jennifer and Michael Ricketts and William and Adam Richards. Great grandfather of Christian, Ethan and Ava.
A Prayer Service will be conducted on Thursday, Dec. 19th at 10:30 AM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham. Friends may visit with the family prior to the service from 10:00 - 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory would be appreciated to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Hingham.
