Obituary

D’AMICO, Maureen (Griffin) Age 66 of Dedham, MA died on October 29, 2013 in her home surrounded by family after a heroic battle with ovarian cancer. Wife, Mother, Grandmother, volunteer and devoted teacher. She is Survived by her husband Joseph and four children: Mark D’Amico & his wife Kathleen of Saugus, MA; Katie D’Amico of Charleston, SC; Jeff D’Amico & his wife Dina of Waltham, MA; and John D’Amico of Watertown, MA. Loving Grandmother of Thomas and Vivian D’Amico.

Also survived by her sisters Karen DiGravio of Marshfield, Shelia Griffin and her husband Jim Manning of Dedham, and her brother Michael Griffin of Brockton. Loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Raised in Brockton, she graduated from Bridgewater State College with a degree in teaching. She taught reading at Brockton’s West Junior High School, before leaving to raise a family of her own. During her time away from teaching she volunteered for many committees and organizations in Dedham. She spent the last 18 years working for the Dedham Public School system focusing on her love of children at the ECEC.

Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home 456 High St. DEDHAM Saturday at 9am. Funeral Mass in St. Anne’s Church, Readville, at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Friday from 3:30-8:30pm. Interment Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Maureen’s memory to Dana-Farber Cancer Research Institute, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02215.
