Obituary

Grignaffini, Louis Dominic of Wellesley, October 23, 2013. Loyal, loving Louis D. Grignaffini passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday October 23, 2013 after a courageous battle with aggressive prostate cancer.
Born in Boston on March 6th, 1943, Lou was raised by a strong Italian family in Wellesley MA, Louis A. Grignaffini and Margaret Pini Grignaffini along with his loving siblings, C. Joseph, Theresa Ramirez and Ann Marchetti.

Upon graduation of Wellesley High School 1961, Lou and his brother C. Joseph joined their father in his home construction company thus creating L.Grignaffini and Son’s Construction where they built many homes and commercial buildings in Wellesley and surrounding communities. Lou was not only a trusted contractor but a loyal tradesman who established long lasting business relationships and friendships. Beyond that Lou was a nurturing influence to youth and young business owners participating in guidance and assistance in anyway needed. He was also president of the Wellesley High School Matt Club and an active member of the Gridiron Club during his sons’ athletic careers.

Lou was a cornerstone of the Wellesley Community Center. He was instrumental in realizing the Wellesley Jaycee’s vision of a social services campus, using private funds to develop the property at 219 Washington Street, one of the most active civic organizations in the town. As a long term member of the board of directors he played a vital role in supporting this self-sustaining, non-profit institution since 1977. Without his energy, commitment and expertise, The Wellesley Community Center might not have ever existed.
Lou was blissfully married to his high school sweetheart Pamela McNeil for 48 years. During which time they built a family of four; two daughters, DeeDee and Jill along with two sons, Louis and Michael who have provided them with 8 grandchildren. He was able to provide an opportunity for his family to travel to many destinations including family trips to Mexico, Aruba and across the United States. He supported his wife and children in many volunteer projects including mission trips to Honduras through Heifer International. Pam and Lou became world travelers from Europe to Asia, Africa, South and Central America and back.

Lou is survived by his wife Pam, his Daughter’s Jill Grignaffini and DeeDee Winterson, his son’s Michael Grignaffini and Louis Grignaffini along with his 8 grandchildren; Michael Winterson (20), Louis Grignaffini (17), AJ Grignaffini (16), Jacqui Winterson (16), Ryan Winterson (14), Lucy Grignaffini (13), Jordan Grignaffini (13) and Luke Grignaffini (11); his younger sister Ann Marchetti and older brother C.
