Obituary

Leo J. Spadafora passed away on October 5, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 89 years old.

Leo was a longtime resident of both Melrose and Wakefield. He was a United States Navy Veteran during the World War II era. He served in the Navy for 20 years and then enlisted in the Navy Reserves for another 10 years. Leo retired from Polaroid were he worked as a machinist for many years. He was an avid gardener and loved cooking and spending time with his 2 grandchildren.

Leo was the devoted husband of 60 years to the late Elvira “Vera” (Passamonte) Spadafora. He was the beloved father of Maria Crupi and her husband Thomas of Wakefield and Paulette Brunning and her husband Gerald of Virginia. Leo was the dear brother of Rose Puglia, Rola Savarino, Evelyn DelRossi and the late William and Guy Spadafora. He was the cherished grandfather of Peter Crupi of Wakefield and Andrea Crupi of Andover. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Wednesday October 9th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church, 173 Albion Street, Wakefield at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Tuesday, October 8th from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be in Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
