Paul Basford, age 60, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at the South Shore Hospital. Paul is survived by his wife of 11 years, Elizabeth Basford, his step-children, Edward Ford and his wife Cheryl of Clinton and Christine Ford and her fiancé Rich Kent of Taunton, his brother James Basford and his wife Carol of Rockland, his grandchildren, Joshua, Hayley, Nicholas and Michael. He is also the uncle of Kristin Basford of Rockland, James Basford and his wife Kelly of Nashua, NH, and Rhonda DiGiacomo and her husband Michael of Randolph and the brother-in-law of Janet Basford Draheim and her husband James Draheim of Brockton. Paul is predeceased by his parents Herbert and Patricia Basford and his brother Ronald Basford.
Paul was born in Boston and grew up in Weymouth before moving to Rockland 11 years ago. He was a mechanic since the age of 16 and worked at Jannell Ford and Rockland Motors. Paul loved fishing and traveling in his RV visiting Casinos from coast to coast. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Rockland.
A Funeral Service will be held at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Thursday September 5 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM.
