Obituary

Marion E. (Lackie) Whalley, 88, of Dartmouth died Friday March 26, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of Ambrose F. Whalley; they had been married for 65 years.

Born in Acushnet , the daughter of the late David F. and Leonora (Tripp) Lackie, she had lived in Dartmouth for most of her life.

She was a member of Smith Mills Congregational Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild.

Mrs. Whalley was formerly employed as a nurse's aide at St. Luke's Hospital, and had been the proprietor of Whalley's Rest Home in Acushnet.

She volunteereed at Dartmouth Council on Aging, and was very devoted to her family.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Wayne F. Whalley, and his wife Patricia, of Dartmouth; a daughter, Donna L. Hebert of Dartmouth; her son-in-law, Paul Erickson, of Dartmouth; 3 grandchildren, Patricia Livesey and her husband Scott, Christopher Hebert and his fiancee Lynne Gomes, and Richard Souza and his wife Kathy; 2 great-grandchildren, Nicholas Livesey and Jacob Livesey; her caregivers, Richard Lackie, Maureen Lackie, and Anna Moniz; her sister-in-law, Vivian Whalley of New Bedford; and nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Thomas Lackie, Edward Lackie, David Lackie, Ellen Maciel, Ruth Knott, Mabel Gifford Morin, Leonora Morse and Elsie Oliver.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday March 29, 2004 at 9 AM in the Smith Mills Congregational Church, Anderson Way, North Dartmouth. Burial will follow in Acushnet Cemetery. Visiting hours at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Sunday March 28, 2004 from 4-7 PM.
