Obituary

EDMUND M. "BUNKY" WIGMORE, a liflong resident of Hingham, died at his home on Monday, Sept. 26th, 2011 at the age of 77. After graduating from Hingham High School in 1952, he served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After his military service, he spent the next 42 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He served at the Hingham Post Office for many years and at the time of his retirement was the Assistant Postmaster in Mansfield. Mr. Wigmore was a lifelong communicant at St. Paul's Church in Hingham where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, taught CCD and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He also was a volunteer firefighter for many years and a co-founder of the Bare Cove Fire Museum in Hingham.

He was the husband of Joan P. (Sestito) Wigmore and father of Timothy M. and his wife Cheryl of Duxbury, Thomas M., Terrence M., Christa A. O'Neill and her husband Robert all of Hingham and Jill J. Wigmore of Hull. Brother of Ethel Silva of Boston and the late John O'Keefe. Grandfather of Timothy J., Shawn P., Melissa J., Nicole M. and Jake E. M. Great grandfather of Lia C., Ana G. and Arianna J.

Funeral Thursday, Sept. 29th at 9 AM from the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Paul's Church, 147 North St., Hingham Square at 10 AM.

Friends may visit at the Downing Chapel on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Norwell VNA/Hospice, 120 Longwater Dr., Norwell, MA 02061.

Interment in St. Paul's Cemetery, Hingham.
