Robert Irvin Ash (Bob) of Plymouth and Boston passed away suddenly at his home in Plymouth on September 15. He was born in Martinsburg, West Virginia and spent his childhood years in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
Bob was the president of Ashworth Consultants, Inc., a managing consulting and executive search firm. He graduated from the University of Virginia, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity; and received his MBA from the Wharton School of Finance, University of Pennsylvania. He was a Certified Public Accountant. Bob served as a Lieutenant on destroyers in the United States Navy.
Prior to establishing Ashworth Consultants, Inc., in 1982, he directed the technical recruiting program for The Foxboro Company and subsequently was a Manager on the consulting staff of Arthur Young & Company (Ernst & Young) where he conducted scores of executive searches. Bob was a Vice President at Heffelfinger Associates, Inc. serving the computer communications and information services industries.
He was a frequent speaker at professional meetings and authored articles on career planning and compensation. Listed in “Who’s Who in the East” and “Who’s Who in Finance and Industry,” Bob was a CPA and has served on the Editorial Board of the Massachusetts CPA Review.
Bob was a former adjunct professor at several area universities and colleges, including Bentley College, The University of Massachusetts at Boston, Suffolk University, Simmons College, Bunker Hill Community College, The University of Rhode Island, and Massasoit Community College.
Bob also served as the former cub master for the Boy Scouts in Plainville, Massachusetts. He recently was elected to the Resident Advisory Committee, Winslowe’s View, The Pinehills in Plymouth.
He leaves his wife, of 37 years, Barbara Lee (Fox) Ash of Plymouth and Boston. He is He is also survived by his sister, Nila Ash Saylor of Front Royal, Virginia; nieces Nan A. Saylor, Front Royal Virginia; Jo Anna Chapman, Smithfield, Virginia; Lou Alice Sykes, Edenton, North Carolina, and Shannon P. Fox, Bonita Springs, Florida. Nephews Garrett E. Fox, Hermosa Beach, California and Adam F. Fox, Charlotte, North Carolina, also survive him. He is also survived by grand nieces and nephews

Arrangements by the Eaton Funeral Home, Needham, Massachusetts. Burial will be private in the Bourne National Cemetery. The funeral will be held at the Church of the Pilgrimage (Congregational), Town Square, Plymouth, Massachusetts, at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23.
