Maria M. (Moura) Gomes, 62, died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 5 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. She was the wife of Jorge V. Gomes. Born and educated in Flores, Azores, Portugal, Mrs. Gomes was a resident of Stoughton for 33 years. She was a weaver at the Stoughton Elastic Web in Stoughton for over 10 years before retiring 4 years ago. She was a longtime communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton and loved sewing in her free time.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Gomes is survived by her sons, Anibal J. Gomes and his fiancé JoAnn of Fairhaven and Joe A. Gomes and his fiancé Anna of Bridgewater. She was predeceased by her parents, Francisco and Maria C. (Medeiros) Moura, as well as her sister, Maria Fatima Soares Moura.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, April 10 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Monday 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.
