Lydia F. (Kapust) Skope, age 84, of Dedham, formerly of Dorchester passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Stanley R. Tippett Hospice Home in Needham. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas G. Skope who died in 1972.
Born in Boston, MA on July 9, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Frank T. Kupast and Pauline J. (Kuncius) Rachauskas. She grew up in the Dorchester section of Boston and was educated in Boston schools.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Skope had been employed as an Office Manager at Northeast Gun Supply and following retirement had worked part time at Decelle’s in West Roxbury.
Lydia had made her home in Dedham for over 60 years and had formerly resided in Dorchester. She loved spending time with family, and her other interests included; gardening, reading, knitting and needle work.
She is survived by her loving children; Nancy L. Olson and her husband George of Mansfield and Jay Luippold of Easton. She was the sister of Ronald “Sonny” Rachauskas of Michigan and the late Albert Kapust, Edmund Kapust , and Allan Rachauskas. She was the cherished grandmother of Andrew Olson and his companion Amanda Colwell and Cassandra Olson, She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday, May 22nd at 10:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 11:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 21st from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Lydia’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Stanley R. Tippett Hospice Home, 920 South St., Needham, MA 02492
