Obituary








Lawrence S. (Red) Donaldson, 77, passed away on August 24, 2013 at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA. He was born on January 21, 1936 in his parent’s home on Hutchins Street in Berlin, NH, the son of Marguerite (Thompson) Donaldson and Reginald Donaldson. As a boy, Red loved sports. After graduating from St. Patrick’s High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He and his family traveled with the military for 12 years. Red served his country during the Korean and Viet Nam Wars. After his honorable discharge, he was employed at the paper mill in Cascade until he retired. Red carried his passion for sports throughout his life, playing in school, the military and city leagues. Late in life he enjoyed his bowling leagues, watching western movies, and his passion for golf was undeniable.

He was predeceased by his wife Jacqueline B. Donaldson, and brothers Jerry Donaldson and Leo “Chummy” Donaldson. He is survived by his sons Barry Allen Donaldson of Newport, VT and Reginald Anthony Donaldson (Janice Donaldson) of Berlin, NH; a daughter Lisa Greenhalgh Richards (Dennis Brian Richards) of Candia, NH; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a sister Mary Oleson and a brother John Donaldson, both of Berlin, NH; nieces, nephews and cousins. We will remember him for his gentle and kind heart.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Friday September 6, 2013 from 2 - 4 PM and 7 - 9 PM at the Bryant Funeral Home in Berlin, NH. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday morning September 7 at 11 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
