John and I were roommates our first two years at the Cross. We shared many laughs, pranks and beers our first year. I hope he is at peace and his passing was without suffering.

John was the first guy I met at my first meeting of the Association of Magistrates and Assistants when I was 25 years old at the Chateau in Framingham in 1980. He was a gentleman then and for his whole life. We had a National Convention in Boston around 1984, where John volunteered to drive people from all over the country because he knew the city. My wife Joanne and I had a lot of fun with John at the St. Patrick's Day parties put on by his boss, the late great Clerk-Magistrate John Flaherty at the South Boston District Court. John Roache was a smart lawyer, a good decent man and a loyal friend. Please know that he will be missed.
