Obituary

Alfred J. Collins, 88, of Salem, NH died Wed. July 16th at his home. He was born and educated in Methuen, MA and he lived in Salem for 60 years. Alfred served his country in the US Army Air Force during WW II.

Alfred was the Postmaster for the Salem Post Office for 19 years. He was a Charter Member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop-Peterson Council #4442 of Salem and a member of VFW Post #8546 of Salem. Alfred was a very active member of the Salem Democratic Committee and recently received a Citation from Gov. John Lynch for his dedicated community service. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

Alfred was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Cavanaugh) Collins.

Grandchildren: Daniel Collins Murphy, Kate Elizabeth Murphy-Minniciello, Matthew Collins Drugan, Kelly Colleen Drugan, Allison Elizabeth Collins, Kelsey Mildred Collins, Jack Collins Drosinos

Calling hours will be held Sunday July 20th from 3-7 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday July 21st at 10:30 AM at Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
