Obituary

MIDDLETON: Henry F. Mooney, 78, died Wednesday, June 15, 2011 surrounded by his loving family in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Angela M. (Cadigan) Mooney.
Born in Boston on April 9, 1933, he was the son of the late Francis and Thelma (Patterson) Mooney. He had resided in Beverly for several years before moving to Middleton thirty-nine years ago. He was a graduate of Boston College High School, Class of 1951, and Boston College, Class of 1955. Hank had also received a Master’s Degree in English from Boston College and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Salem State College.
Mr. Mooney taught English at Danvers High School for many years and retired as a department head and administrator. He then became an administrator for the Northeast Consortium for several years.
He was a former member of the Middleton School Committee, the Middleton Lion’s Club and a longtime communicant of St. Adelaide’s Church. He also enjoyed golfing and was an avid New England sports fan.
In addition to his wife of fifty-two years, he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Alicia Mooney of Charlestown, Gregory and Babette Mooney of Haverhill and Robert and Andrea Mooney of Marblehead; four grandchildren, Anne, William, Michael and Elizabeth Mooney and a sister, Dorothy Mooney of Jamaica Plain.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, June 20th in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 4 – 8 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday in St. Adelaide’s Church, 712 Lowell St., W. Peabody at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the St. Adelaide’s Food Bank, 712 Lowell St., West Peabody, MA 01960. Interment will be held in the Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton.
