Dear Mrs. Batchelder and Family; I was so sorry to hear of Mr. Batchelder's passing. Even though I only had the pleasure of meeting him once, I was deeply moved at what a tremendous support he was to my own family during the loss of my father, even in spite of his own failing health. He was a blessing to us. Please accept our deepest sympathies, and may your many wonderful memories comfort you during this difficult time. Carie & The Siegfried Family

I apologize for being late, I was in NC when I heard of Dick’s passing. I taught school with Dick at BHS in those ancient times: the 1970s. Like his vast number of friends, I will always remember him for his wonderful smile, for his humanity when dealing with the students, and for his kind heart towards all. My sincere condolences, Bob Bamberger

To the Dick Batchelder Family, I, along with my class of 1960, had Dick for English. Many of my classmates played under his coachmanship. He has also been very gracious in attending our class reunions, especially our 50th. He was a very special person, and we girls thought he was very handsome. What teeny boppers we were. Again, my sincere sympathies. Debbie (DeCoste) Hale

02/17/12 My prayers and condolences are with Dick and his Family at this time. I taught at BHS for 44 years and knew Dick as a teacher, coach and when he was my son's counselor. Have also seen him from time to time at the lunches retired teachers attend. He will be missed.

My prayers and sincere sympathy go out to the entire Batchelder family on the loss of a wonderful family man, teacher, counselor, coach and former athlete. I was fortunate to have taught and coached with Dick in Rockport as he served as my mentor in the early 1960's. We always enjoyed returning to the Rockport HS reunions to reunite with the students and former athletes that meant so much to us. I was most impressed with the courage Dick demonstrated in his later years, may he now rest in peace. George Jacobson

My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. I was a teacher at Beverly High School with Dick for 30 years, and have many wonderful memories of his successful coaching, teaching & couseling years. Being the cheerleading coach I got to share in the excitement and thrills of his teams many basketball victories. He was a friend to all, and will be in my thoughts and prayers. Mary Lou

My sympathy to your family. Mr. Batchelder was my guidance councilor and shared my love of playing basketball. He GREATLY assisted me and my family as I navigated the college application and offer maze and was instrumental in helping me know what an important concept "fit" was in selecting a college. I love where I ended up chosing to go to school and think that was a tremendous springboard to my life choices and opportunities. I know Mr. Batchelder had much to do with helping and shaping that important time in my life. I am sorry for your loss, he helped so many students in his time. Warmly, Paula M. Colahan BHS 1983
