Brennan, I am a member of GDTC and read Eldon's note about your father. Please accept my sincere condolences. I am Chairman of the Leadership Community Board of the American Diabetes Association of New England (office is in Boston) and noticed that the ADA was one of his selected charities. I thank your family and want you to know that we will steward any memorials in his honor, in our efforts to Stop Diabetes. I will be making a donation in his name also. My best to you and your family as you embrace his passing. Sincerely- Jay Dunigan

Phil will be missed always. I am so sorry for his family's loss. He was a great man. Even though alot of people didn't like me at HUD, he used to always listen to me if I had something to say from the very time he first started working at HUD. I was his secretary for many, many years. I still can't believe he left us. He had many new things planned - paying off his mortgage, getting married and retiring. I will also miss the stories and the pictures of the places he visited that he shared with us. I will also miss when he used to peek over the edge of my desk to find out what I was having for lunch because it smelled so good.

To my cousin Sandy, Phil’s fiancé, it is very hard to understand why Phil was taken from you and all the others who love him so suddenly and unexpectedly. My heart aches for you as I imagine the sadness you must be feeling. I know there is little I can say right now that will make sense of this tragedy, but please know that I love you and will be praying for you. Please let me know how you are doing. With heartfelt sympathy, Donna Luce

Dear Sandy and Family. I found out this morning about Phil's accident. I am so deeply sorry that this had to happen at this time. Phil was a true friend. We shared so many things together from stories growing up in Scandinavian neighborhoods... to our work... to his support to me when I was going through my divorce. I will miss him terribly. If I can help in any way with dealing with the Phil's government service/benefits please don't hestitate to call me. My phone number is in the local phone book. VR Dave Nylund

Our visit with Phil just two weeks ago was particularly memorable as we talked of his upcoming marriage to Sandy and future travel to India with his son and a friend. That relaxed, peaceful day at Merrymeeting Lake shall be our lasting memory. While the pain of loss is never completely soothed with words, we hope knowing others care will help. Barbara & Jim

Dear Family and Friends of Phil, I want you all to know how sad I am to hear of Phil's death. I worked with him throughout his tenure at HUD. Our work in affordable housing is not always easy; but Phil's patience and fairness at the times we needed it made it easier. You all should be proud. He was a great guy, and when challenged at annual housing managers meetings he could cut a mean dance step! My thoughts are with you, Sarah Carpenter Vermont Housing Finance Agency
