Clara Nell Arthur Smith, 81, of Tifton passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024, at her residence. A private funeral service and burial will be held at a later date at Old Ty Ty Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born October 26, 1942, in Ocilla, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Roy Bunyon Arthur and Grace Fike Arthur. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Larry James Smith; one step-son, James “Doodle” Smith; and one brother, Henry Arthur. Before retiring, she was a spinner at Queen Carpet in Tifton. She loved the Lord and her family.
Mrs. Smith is survived by one son, Joseph “Joey” Ammons of Ocilla; two daughters, Gail Ammons Perron of Alberta, Canada and Nan Ammons Pope of Ocilla; one step-daughter, Denise Smith Harrell of Tifton; one brother, Billy Arthur of Ocilla; three sisters, Doris Hawkins of Tifton, Betty Gray of Waterloo and Gloria Hudson of Ocilla; ten grandchildren, Dylan Harrell, Hunter Wade Harrell, Joni Whitworth, Carly Smith, Erika Smith, Caleb Ammons, Teddy Pope, Wyatt Pope, Josiah Pope and Jewel Pope; six great-grandchildren; and two special nieces, Tami Smith of Tifton and Teia Trepanier of Oxford.
